Senior Year College Preparedness Timeline
Fall Semester
September
- Check your transcripts to make sure you have all the credits you need to get into your college(s) of choice. Find out from the colleges you are applying to whether or not they need official copies of your transcripts sent at the time of application.
- Transcripts are available at: www.parchment.com or in the counseling office
- Register for October/November SAT I, ACT (CSU & UC campuses do not require the ACT). SAT website www.collegeboard.com and ACT website www.act.org.
California Military Institute Code: 054173. - Most early decision and early action applications are due between October 1 and November 1.
- Research and apply for scholarships.
October
- Make a final list of schools that interest you and keep a file of deadlines and required admission items for each school.
- Finish essays for college admission.
- Attend a college fair or schedule a visit to a campus.
- Take SAT and/or ACTs. Have the official scores sent by the testing agency to the colleges/universities that have made your final list.
- Research and apply for scholarships. See the counseling page for more info.
- Apply for California State Schools (CSU) www.csumentor.com.
November
- Apply for University of California (UC) http://admission.universityofcalifornia.ed
- Research and apply for scholarships.
- Apply for a PIN (your electronic signature) number for FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. See our FAFSA info on the counseling web page.
December
- Early decision replies usually arrive between Dec 1st and Dec 31st.
- If you have not already done so, make sure your official test scores are being sent to the colleges to which you are applying.
- Research and apply for scholarships.
