As we return to school in a pandemic environment, it is important for families and staff to have a central place for accurate and timely information. PUHSD is dedicated to creating a safe and caring environment as we return full-time and in-person on Wednesday, August 4th.
Public Health Guidelines
Just as we have done throughout this pandemic, PUHSD will continue to follow all legal requirements and public health guidelines, as these serve as directives to California schools. The current and applicable guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) are listed below.
According to CDPH, and as included in their guidance listed above, recent evidence indicates that in-person instruction can occur safely without minimum physical distancing requirements when other mitigation strategies (e.g., masking) are implemented. This is consistent with recent CDC K-12 School Guidance. As a result, all students will be required to wear masks at all times when indoors. Staff working in spaces occupied by students will be required to wear masks indoors as well. Masks will be optional outdoors.
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is requiring face masks to be worn in all indoor public settings, regardless of vaccination status. This new requirement will be in effect for the next four weeks (December 15, 2021 through January 15, 2022).
