Back to School Night 2021:

Hi! I am Ms. Acosta and I am a teacher at Paloma Valley High School (PVHS). This year will be my 7th year at PVHS. For the academic school year 2021-22, I will be teaching Spanish for Spanish Speakers 1, Spanish 2, and AVID 9. I look forward to teaching and learning from this diverse group of students! :)

I am originally from Lynwood and the Coachella Valley. If you'd like to learn more about me, check out this PUHSD article:

I moved to the Inland Empire to attend UC Riverside as an undergraduate student and teacher candidate. I have a BA in Sociology/Spanish and Teaching Credential from UCR. I also have a master's degree in Educational Counseling and a Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) credential from Azusa Pacific University (APU).

When I am not teaching, I love to travel abroad or simply visit new places around the area. In pre-pandemic times, you would find me catching a flight somewhere during most school breaks. I have been to all of the continents, except Australia where I hope to travel to before I turn 30. When I was in college, I studied abroad in Spain (Europe) and Ghana (Africa) for a year.

Aside from traveling, I also love to return home and spend time with my family. I have twin nephews and baby nephew. Other things I enjoy are watching Netflix/YouTube, exploring content on IG, reading personal development and memoirs,  listening to Reggaetón, Banda, 2000s Hip Hop and R&B, and taking a walk in nature (usually hiking).

I look forward to getting to know my students and their families this school year! You can always contact me via email:

*I use CANVAS. Students and families can find all classwork and class information (day by day, week by week) on Canvas.
